iPhone 8 Release Date: After much hype, Apple revealed iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus this September and also released their much-awaited iOS 10 that has some really cool features but apple iPhone 8’s rumors are already stealing the thunder of iPhone 7 as it will be launched in 2017 and it is the 10th anniversary of iPhone. To mark this occasion, Apple has something big in store for its huge fan base. Apple is already famous for making their phones using the latest technology, fine engineering, and quality material. Rumors about iPhone8 have suggested that it will be a remarkable phone with many amazing features. In this article, we will discuss more iPhone 8, its release date, price, features, expected specifications and its new concept design.
iPhone 8 Naming
It is an Apple trend to add number after the name during even years to signify changes in design and style and adding an “S” during odd years to denote a device with new internal features. But due to major changes that will be introduced in the 2017 edition of iPhone, it is less likely that iPhone 7s will be launched. Apple would probably skip to a new numeric, that is, iPhone 8.
Below is the Apple trend on the basis of which this speculation has been formulated:
2008- iPhone 3G
2009- iPhone 3GS
2010- iPhone 4
2011- iPhone 4s
2012- iPhone 5
2013- iPhone 5s
2014- iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
2015- iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
2016- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
2017- iPhone 8 and iPhone 8s Plus
‘iPhone 8’ has not been officially confirmed by Apple as the official name but given the hype it has about its features, the name seems more likely. It is speculated that three models of iPhone will be released in 2017 so nothing can be assured about the name as Apple can also the iPhone in 2017 with an altogether different name. It is rumored that Apple has chosen Israel as the birthplace for iPhone 2017 and the work on the 2017 edition is taking place there.
Apple iPhone 8 Design
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the 2017 edition of iPhone will break away from the standard aluminum body which the Apple has been using since 2012 to mark the significance of this edition. It is expected that Apple will bring back the glass backed body which was used in iPhone 4s. Many people would argue that glass is fragile and can easily break but Ming tells that new technologies like Gorilla Glass can withstand the accidental drops as well as scratches. The new iPhone will be thin and use a heavy material which would produce a phone that doesn’t weigh much. Kuo says that Apple will use a metallic frame to place the internal organs of the phone and the metallic frame will be wrapped in glass. It is expected that iPhone8 will be available in three versions vis-à-vis “premium” with OLED screen and two base models and sizes will be 4.7 inches, 5 inches, and 5.5 inches. Though, Allen Horng who is the CEO of Catcher Technology which is an Apple supplier declines this speculation and suggests that at least one 2017 iPhone model will have a glass backing but Apple may pair one glass bodied model with one or two Aluminum bodied models. Famous tech blogger Robert Scoble says “It’s the first product introduction in Apple’s new amazing headquarters. It’s a big tremendous deal and will change this industry deeply”. It will have OLED screen, eye sensors that will significantly increase frame rate and a higher polygon count than PC with a Nvidia 1080 cars in it.
Color Option in iPhone 8
It is expected that Apple iPhone 8 will introduce new color finishes and the two possible color finishes are New Deep Blue and Space Black which will be glossier than the current Space Grey color finish.
iPhone 8 Display
Reportedly, Apple has signed a deal with Samsung to produce OLED displays for their 2017 edition of iPhone. It is said that Apple is working upon AMOLED with the AMOLED supplier AU Optronics in a secret lab in Taiwan. Apple is also in talks with Sharp which produces OLED panels and Sharp has also confirmed that OLED display will be seen in apple iPhone 8. It is reported that Samsung will provide as much as 40 million AMOLED panels to Apple in 2017 along with AMOLED panels from companies like LG Display, AU Optronics, Japan Display and Sharp. The advantage of an OLED display is that it can be flexible which can help in creating a curved display. Also, OLED display has better contrast ration, truer colors, improved viewing angles, better power efficiency to increase the battery life, faster response time than LCD screen. Apple Watch already features OLED display. Interestingly, John Gruber, an Apple blogger has suggested that Apple has plans to use the edge-to-edge display in iPhone 8 which means there will be just display and no bottom, top or side bezels. The information has also been confirmed by The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg.
Apple iPhone 8 Specifications
TSMC has suggested that Apple is using an A11 chip built on a 10-nanometer process which will be used in the iPhone 8. A11 chip is much faster, energy efficient and small in size than any chips used before. Certification for the 10-nanometer process is expected to be achieved in late 2016 and the first 10 nanometer chips will be sent to Apple for Validation during the first quarter of 2017. It is believed that TSMC has secured all orders for the A11 chip.
As per the trends from Apple iPhone 8 is expected to feature a 14-megapixel main camera with the 4-megapixel front camera. Apple is known for its camera quality and displays, therefore, some more exciting features will be added to the camera. In 2015, Apple got a patent for “Digital camera with light splitter” which is a light splitter system that is used in high-end video cameras. A light splitter system consists of a cube that splits light into red, green and blue. With the help of light splitter system, the camera can capture high-quality images with precise colors, especially during night time. A super-resolution mode is also expected in iPhone 8 and user can turn it on like HDR mode and Panorama mode when needed.
iPhone 8 Features
According to rumors, iPhone 8 will have a new wireless standard named as LiFi which can attain 100 times faster download speed than the currently used Wifi connection. LiFi will use visible light communication system instead of radio waves making it much faster.
A wireless charging technology can also be introduced by Apple in their 2017 model. Apple is supposedly working on a long range wireless charging technique which will be much better than the wireless charging techniques used in many devices currently. After seeing audio jack being disappeared from iPhone 7, wireless charging can be the next logical step which is expected of Apple. Rumors are that Apple has teamed up with Energous which is a company that has developed WattUp, a long range wireless charging solution to feature in iPhone 8.
Other noteworthy features that can be introduced in iPhone 8 are biometric features like facial recognition and iris scanning. Here we have a amazing video on recently launched iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
